Speaker Resources

All 2010 Users’ Group Conference presenters should review the following guidelines and requirements. As a presenter, you are responsible for providing DUG administration with an electronic copy of your session proceedings.
Please download this PowerPoint template when developing your presentation. For more information, or if you have any questions, please e-mail the 2010 DUG Planning Committee at dug-cpc@datatel-users.org.

    Handouts

In continuing with the effort we began several years ago, to save expense and paper and move towards becoming a more environmentally friendly conference, we will not provide session handouts. We do expect presenters to submit electronic copies of handouts and/or proceedings for posting on the DUG Conference website by February 26, 2010, so that attendees may print out any handouts they'd like to bring with them to the conference or upon returning home. Many conferences are moving toward this practice and we thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to save our planet's resources.

Please email your handouts/proceedings to: dug-proceedings@datatel-users.org by February 26, 2010

    Conference Proceedings
The conference proceedings are those documents that are made available through this conference website to users. These documents are maintained long after the conference is over. The proceedings are what you want attendees to take away from your presentation. The proceedings are
not the "talking points" or handouts you use during your presentation; they are complete and thorough documentation on whatever you may wish to present or leave with the attendees concerning your session. They can be as long as you want and as complete as you want, with every example you may wish people to see, with every graph or any other information. The key word is complete. Whereas a handout in a presentation is limited by the time you have to present your subject, the proceeding allows room for details, examples, and other itemized notations.

The conference proceedings documents will be published in the Datatel Users' Group Conference website. To assist administration efforts, please follow these guidelines as you prepare your proceedings document(s):

    Acceptable Application Formats
As many Microsoft users are still transitioning to Office 2007, we highly recommend that if you are using this version, you save your file as a “97-2003” file (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). That way you’ll be assured that all interested attendees will be able to read your file. Your file must be submitted in one of the following formats:

    · Microsoft PowerPoint (use application extension .ppt)
Note: Please save and close your document in the view you would like it to appear on the Web (i.e., slide view, outline view, etc.) FYI, PowerPoint remembers what view you close your document in and will open it in the same view the next time the file is opened.
    · Microsoft Word (use application extension .doc)
    · Microsoft Excel (use application extension .xls)
    · Adobe Acrobot (use application extension .pdf)
    · WordPerfect (use application extension .wpd)
    · Windows Write (use application extension .wri)
    · ASCII Formatt (use application extension .asc)
